REBECCA SEIPLE, PSYD |
Postdoctoral Psychologist
Dr. Rebecca Seiple is a postdoctoral psychologist with experience in providing short- and long-term psychotherapy with children, teens, young adults, couples and families. She has experience working with a wide range of presenting concerns including issues with self-worth, feelings of hopelessness, persistent worry, attention, emotion regulation, trauma, mood swings, self-harm and experiencing feelings of disconnection. She also has in-depth experience providing therapy for OCD, specific phobias, psychosis and autism-related challenges.
Dr. Seiple is committed to creating a warm, safe space where genuine insight and new forms of self-expression can emerge. Within this supportive therapeutic relationship, clients will have the opportunity to explore their identities and the ways they connect with others. This can include deeply exploring gender, sexual, racial and cultural identities and the ways they intersect with experience in society.
In session, Dr. Seiple gently guides clients to attune to what is happening in the here and now, including wishes, fears, and the emotions that arise in real time. She also draws from an understanding of early life experiences to help make sense of persistent patterns that may be shaping the present. This process of self-discovery fosters a deeper sense of personal agency, empowering clients to make meaningful choices and improve their relationships. Clients can expect thoughtful questions that expand their perspectives, space to think creatively, and support in becoming more comfortable with a wide range of emotions. Over time, clients will develop greater confidence in navigating their inner world and responding to life with clarity and intention.
In couples therapy, Dr. Seiple prioritizes helping couples to identify negative, harmful, and unsatisfying patterns of interaction, as well as the underlying emotions creating and maintaining them. She emphasizes creating a therapeutic environment where both partners can be vulnerable and access parts of themselves that allow for deeper connection. She also explores sexual intimacy and creates space for new conversations in this area.
Dr. Seiple is trained in a range of evidence-based approaches, including DBT, CBT, mentalization-based therapy, and psychodynamic therapy with a focus on relational processes. She also has specialized expertise in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD, CBT for psychosis, and relational therapy for autism. These modalities are thoughtfully integrated and applied as they become relevant and helpful to your unique therapeutic needs.
Dr. Seiple earned a MA and PsyD in psychology at the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology in the Bronx. Her dissertation focused on the role trauma plays in the development of borderline features. She also participated in research related to attachment styles, the psychotherapy process and psycholinguistics. She earned a BA in philosophy with a minor in physics from Colgate University. She is a visual artist, writer and performer.
