THERAPY FOR DEPRESSION
To live in New York City is to experience contagious energy, boundless ambition, and endless possibilities that is unlike any other place in the world—but the flip side is that it is also known to create overwhelming stress, pressure, and loneliness.
Depression in NYC can feel uniquely invisible—masked by busyness, burnout, or the pressure to “keep it together.” In the midst of crowded streets and constant motion, many New Yorkers silently struggle with depression.
At Groundwork Therapy, we provide thoughtful, individualized care for people navigating depression in the context of urban life, social and political unrest, economic uncertainty, and personal transition. If you’ve been feeling depleted, disconnected, or hopeless—especially in light of recent life events—you’re not alone.
In recent years, the emotional weight of current events—global conflict, climate anxiety, rising costs of living, ongoing injustice—have left many feeling emotionally exhausted or stuck in survival mode. For those already managing depression, this added layer of stress can deepen feelings of despair or isolation.
Depression can feel like a heavy weight—making it hard to focus, connect with others, or find motivation. We understand that depression isn't “just feeling sad.” It can show up as exhaustion, numbness, hopelessness, or even irritability and self-criticism. It might be related to life transitions, identity struggles, trauma, or stress—or it might not have an obvious cause at all. Whatever your experience, we’re here to help you make sense of it and find a path forward. At Groundwork Therapy, we offer a space where you don’t have to pretend.
