CLINICAL DOCTORAL EXTERNSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM
We adhere to NYNJADOT-PSYDNYS Externship Guidelines and Match Process. All applications should be received through the client portal.
Completing your externship at a group private practice is a chance to step into the professional world of clinical practice in a vibrant, collaborative setting. A group practice offers flexibility, variety, and a close-up view of what it means to do meaningful, depth-oriented, relational work with clients.
This externship is ideal for externs who are interested in learning more about psychodynamic and relational therapy, an interest in working with gender and sexual diversity, and interest in couples/relationship therapy. Therapy at our practice is not just symptom-focused—it’s about meaning, insight, and helping clients understand how past experiences live in the present. Many of our clients come to therapy to explore aspects of gender, sexuality, identity, and family and interpersonal dynamics. As an extern, you’ll gain experience working in an affirming and intersectional space—where nuance, openness, and self-reflection are central to the work.
You’ll receive thoughtful, weekly supervision grounded in psychodynamic and relational theory. We sit with countertransference, enactments, and the complexities of real therapeutic relationships.
As part of a small and intentional team, you’ll be invited into conversations with therapists and psychologists who are engaged, approachable, and reflective. We strive to make our externs feel seen and supported—not just evaluated.
Our externship also offers a unique opportunity to see and learn the in’s and out’s of what it is like working within a group practice.
