CANCELLATION POLICY
Psychotherapy sessions are 45 minutes in length and are held on a weekly basis at a mutually agreed upon time. If you arrive late for a session you will lose time from that session. We view therapy as a mutual investment between therapist and client with the therapist reserving a 45-minute slot for you each week.
Our therapists have a limited amount of appointment slots to offer each week. If you cancel a session the therapist is not able fill that time with a temporary client.
You are allotted three free cancellations per year (12-month cycle). After three cancellations, you will be charged the full fee for any appointment cancelled for any reason and with any amount of notice given. This allows the therapist to continue to hold your time slot. You may be able to “make up” your missed appointment within the same week or the following week (i.e., you would have two appointments that week) if your therapist’s schedule allows for this. In this case you will not be charged for the original cancelled appointment.
Biweekly Appointments: A biweekly appointment arrangement requires that you attend an appointment every other week on an ongoing basis. You will be charged the full fee for any cancelled biweekly appointment regardless of the reason for the cancellation or the amount of notice given. However, if your therapist is able to schedule a makeup appointment within the same week as the cancelled appointment or the following week (resulting in one appointment per week for two consecutive weeks) then you will not be charged for the original cancelled appointment. There are no yearly allotted free cancellations for biweekly appointments.
Other Appointments: You will be charged the full fee for any cancelled appointment that is scheduled outside of a weekly or biweekly commitment regardless of the reason for the cancellation or the amount of notice given. The therapist may offer you a makeup appointment within the same week if they have availability.
No-Shows: Not showing for a scheduled appointment always incurs the full fee for that appointment. These sessions will not be made up.
Video Therapy: Switching from an in-person appointment to a video appointment is an acceptable alternative to cancelling an appointment if you are running late for the session, feeling ill, or cannot physically be present in the office for any reason. You must notify your therapist of your request to switch to a video session as soon as possible.
Please note that your insurance will not reimburse you for cancelled appointments.
