CANCELLATION POLICY

Psychotherapy sessions are 45 minutes in length and are held on a weekly basis at a mutually agreed upon time. If you arrive late for a session you will lose time from that session. We view therapy as a mutual investment between therapist and client with the therapist reserving a 45-minute slot for you each week.

Any same-day cancellation (meaning an appointment cancelled on the same calendar day that it is scheduled to occur) will be charged the full session fee regardless of the reason for the cancellation or the number of excused cancellations remaining.

Our therapists have a limited amount of appointment slots to offer each week. If you cancel a session the therapist is not able fill that time with a temporary client.

Weekly Appointments: A weekly appointment arrangement means that you attend therapy once per week on an ongoing basis at a recurring, mutually agreed upon appointment time. Your therapist reserves this appointment time specifically for you each week. For a weekly appointment frequency, you are allotted three excused cancellations per year (12-month cycle). There is no charge for excused cancellations. After three cancellations, you will be charged the full fee for any appointment cancelled for any reason and with any amount of notice given. However, if your therapist is able to schedule a “makeup session” for your missed appointment within the same week as the cancelled appointment or an additional appointment the following week (i.e., two appointments scheduled in the same week), you will not be charged for the original cancelled appointment, nor will that appointment count toward one of you excused cancellations.

Biweekly Appointments: A biweekly appointment arrangement requires that you attend an appointment every other week on an ongoing basis. You will be charged the full fee for any cancelled biweekly appointment regardless of the reason for the cancellation or the amount of notice given. However, if your therapist is able to schedule a makeup appointment within the same week as the cancelled appointment or the following week (resulting in one appointment per week for two consecutive weeks) then you will not be charged for the original cancelled appointment. There are no yearly allotted free cancellations for biweekly appointments.

Other Appointments: You will be charged the full fee for any cancelled appointment that is scheduled outside of a weekly or biweekly commitment regardless of the reason for the cancellation or the amount of notice given. The therapist may offer you a makeup appointment within the same week if they have availability.

No-Shows: Not showing for a scheduled appointment always incurs the full fee for that appointment. These sessions will not be made up.

Video Therapy: Switching from an in-person appointment to a video appointment is an acceptable alternative to cancelling an appointment if you are running late for the session, feeling ill, or cannot physically be present in the office for any reason. You must notify your therapist of your request to switch to a video session as soon as possible.

Please note that your insurance will not reimburse you for cancelled appointments.
